Day 9: Page, AZ to Ouray, CO (kind of)
10:00am - Leaving the canyons
We started out our final day with breakfast!
| Mary's wonderful smoothie. 👅 |
| Breakfast of champions. |
We set out from Page, AZ after a wonderful and amazing week to take on our next adventure.
| How do taxes work on this spot? |
We are in four places at once! Billy really prefers Arizona.
| A long distance relationship. |
The flags for the four states as well as the Navajo and Ute nations. Mary: I liked the Colorado flag. They clearly tried really hard, they just put a "C" on their flag. |
3:00pm - On the road to Ouray, CO
As we approached Ouray, CO, the landscape began to get more mountainous. We ascended the mountains towards Ouray.
As we go further into the mountains, we started to see snow on the roads!
| Mountains. And snow. Lots of snow. |
5:00pm - A slippin' and a slidin'
About midway up the mountain, we got hit by a snow storm. At one point, we took a slide off the road into a snow pile. A nice couple with a giant Texas-sized truck pulled over and helped tow Cleetus back on the road. We got our chains on and decided to cut our trip short and stay at the nearest town. That turned out to be Telluride, CO! So we never made it to Ouray...
We didn't get action shots of Cleetus off-roading, but here are some images to show how the storm looked.
Started snowing hard.
| There is a road in there. |
Next stop: Durango, CO! (spoiler alert: we actually get there)
